The story behind Alight, and the standard that built it.
THE ORIGIN
It started in the front seat.
Alight Travel was founded in 2014, but its real beginning was earlier than that. Behind the wheel of an executive car, the founder spent years moving Members of Parliament, government officials, royal household guests and senior corporate clients through London and beyond.
What that work taught him is the principle the business was built on: discretion is not a feature you advertise, it is a standard you hold. People in positions of public responsibility do not want a chauffeur who tells them what they think of the news. They want someone who is reachable, accountable, and silent on the things that matter.
That principle has carried into every part of Alight since.
THE EXPANSION
From one car to a private travel house.
For the first five years, Alight delivered chauffeur services to a small client base built almost entirely on referral. There was no marketing, no brand campaign, no cold outreach. Clients found us through other clients, and the business grew at the rate trust allows.
In parallel, the founder spent five years coordinating travel and logistics for film and television productions, moving artists, crew and equipment across locations under the kind of timing pressure that broadcast schedules require. That work is still a core part of what Alight does today.
As the client base widened, so did the brief. What had started as ground transport became aviation, then security, then the personal-office work that today sits under our concierge service. Every expansion was driven by the same question: what do our existing clients need that we are not yet providing? The four service lines we offer today are the answer to that question, refined over more than a decade.
Every booking placed through Alight Travel carries the appropriate industry accreditation, including ATOL, TTA, IATA, ABTA, Virtuoso and Serandipians, giving our clients the full protection of the leading credentials in luxury travel.
THE FOUNDER
I started Alight because I had spent enough time in the front seat to understand exactly what principals want from the people who move them. They want one person who is responsible. They want decisions made without delay. They want their business handled with the same care whether it is a single airport transfer or a six-month production schedule.
The brand has grown since 2014, but the structure has not changed. Every client at Alight is still managed directly by me. Every booking still carries my name. Every relationship is still built on the assumption that we will be working together for years, not weeks.

OUR STANDARDS

One point of contact, always.
There is no account team at Alight. There is no junior handler, no client services desk, no rotating relationship manager. The founder is your point of contact from the first enquiry to the final invoice. That structure is deliberate, and it will not change as the business grows.
Discretion as a default setting.
We do not publish client names. We do not write case studies that identify the people who work with us. We do not post on social media about journeys we have arranged. Confidentiality is not a service tier; it is the baseline, applied to every client without exception.
Long relationships, not single trips.
The clients who have been with Alight the longest have been with us for over a decade. We are built for that timescale. Every decision we make, from how we vet drivers to how we structure partner relationships, is made on the assumption that the client we are serving today will still be a client in ten years.
THE OFFICE
Mayfair, by deliberate choice.
Alight is registered and operates from 11 Old Bond Street in the heart of Mayfair, the neighbourhood our clients live, work and stay in. The location is not incidental. It places us within walking distance of the hotels, residences, members’ clubs and offices that our work touches, and within the same network of suppliers, drivers and partners that the rest of the area runs on.
We chose Mayfair because the standard there is already set. Our job is to meet it.
